A dated appearance is one reason to rebuild. The more useful question is where the current site makes life difficult for customers or staff.
- Customers cannot find the basics. Services, opening hours, the service area or a phone number are buried or out of date.
- The phone experience is awkward. Text is hard to read, navigation is crowded, or the enquiry form is difficult to use.
- The business has changed. You offer different services, serve a wider area, or need to connect an existing booking or ordering system.
- Updates are being put off. Small changes are difficult, or the person who built the site is no longer maintaining it.
A full replacement is not always necessary. Send the current URL and the problem you want to solve so we can discuss the scope before quoting.
What we check before rebuilding
- Content and URLs: pages to keep, pages to remove, and redirects needed when an address changes.
- Ownership and access: the domain, hosting and current website accounts.
- Business email: the mail provider and DNS records that must be preserved.
- Enquiries and bookings: where forms send messages and which third-party services the site uses.
- Search information: page titles, descriptions, the sitemap and any existing Search Console access.
The proposal records the work included. Product catalogues, large content migrations and custom software need their own scope.
Review the replacement before launch
We build a separate preview and ask you to approve the homepage direction before completing the remaining pages. You can check the copy and images, follow the navigation and review the mobile layout before the public website changes.
The launch plan covers the domain switch, agreed redirects, enquiry-form checks and handover. Hosting and support follow the Build or Managed terms you choose. Ongoing content changes are available through Steady Care.

Website redesign questions
How much does a small business website redesign cost?
The same published packages apply to a standard rebuild: Cove is $999 for up to 3 pages, Harbour is $1,800 for up to 7 pages, and Beacon starts at $3,000. Managed starts at $139 per month for 12 months with no upfront website fee. All prices are in CAD, plus applicable tax. Large migrations, custom features and work outside the package are quoted separately.
Can we keep our existing domain and business email?
Your domain remains yours. Before changing hosting or DNS, we identify where the domain and email are managed and record the settings that must stay in place. Keeping email working is part of the launch plan; changing email providers is a separate decision.
Does the old website have to go offline while you build?
The replacement is built in a separate preview so you can review it while the current site stays available. The final switch depends on your host and domain settings. We agree the timing and handover steps before making the change.
Will a redesign affect our Google rankings?
It can. Before launch, we identify useful existing pages and URLs, keep relevant content, plan redirects for changed URLs and check page titles and the sitemap. These steps reduce avoidable disruption; a redesign is not a promise of higher rankings.
What do you need to assess our current website?
Send the website address, what is not working for you, the main things customers need to do, and any features you need to keep. If you know the platform and host, include those too. Do not send passwords through the enquiry form; access can be arranged after the scope is agreed.
Do you redesign websites for businesses outside Halifax?
Yes. We work with businesses in Dartmouth, Bedford and elsewhere in Nova Scotia by email, phone and video. You can review the preview and provide feedback remotely.
